This is the page for one my brownrider, A'drov. I wasn't going to make any more characters, I know, I say that a lot, but the BoD at Storm Fires decided that they wished to expand, so they created a second Weyr on the continent, called Rising Dawn Weyr. With a little more elbow room, I figured it would be safe to create a few more charries, and Jessilee, Kiandra, and A'drov were the ones that I created, along with an NPC that is attached to Kiandra named Nial.

A'drov is a former Journeyman Beastherder. His mother Analie and his father Drovon are both deceased, but he has three sisters who are all much older than him, and will be talked about later. He is a gentle giant who stands up for himself and those that he loves and does not get goaded into things that he does not wish to do. He is very loyal and if he says that he is going to do something, those around him can count on him to do what he says. He is slow to anger, knowing that with his great size it would be very easy to hurt someone without meaning to, and prefers to remain gentle in his actions so that he does not scare any potential friends away.

In keeping with his identity of a giant, A'drov towers at 6'3" tall with strait black hair that is in a typical boy cut, although not as short as most dragonriders wear their hair. He has warm brown eyes with an intelligent and gentle good humor to them and an easy smile that he displays often. He has a large frame and is powerfully built, something that helps him in his job, and he prefers to wear darker colors because it goes with his hair and eyes. Lighter colors make him look oddly out of place no matter where he is, so he simply doesn't wear them, preferring to go around feeling hot as compared to feeling like an idiot.

When A'drov's parents found out that they were going to have him, it came as a surprise to them, since he was born a full 13 Turns after his youngest sister, Vonie. By this time, his parents were tired of raising children, and while they cared for their son, it was more often up to Androv to care for them as he grew older. When he turned 12, he apprenticed to the Beastcraft Hall, where he met a boy named Jial and became friends with him. Jial preferred to hang out with those at the Hold instead of remaining around the Hall, and A'drov followed his friend most of the time, which drew him into Jessilee's circle of friends.

Because of his easy going and friendly nature as well as his trustworthiness, he was quickly drawn into the group, and over time developed feelings for Jessilee. He knew that her heart had been broken by Jial, and he hoped to be able to ease that pain. He hadn't been going out with her for very long, however, before he knew that while she loved him dearly, it was not the right type of love.

Although he knew that it was false, he couldn't bring himself to release her, cherishing what time he had with her that he could claim she was his. After a lot longer than he'd thought she would hang on, Jessilee tried very gently to break it to him that she was no longer interested in being his girlfriend. He was devastated even though he'd known it was coming, and for about a month and a half sequestered himself in his room at the Beastcraft Hall, unable to face the girl that had been his but was no longer.

Jial came to visit him and finally convinced Androv that although he was no longer Jessilee's romantic item, he could still cherish what time he had with her. He pointed out that they didn't have that long until they reached the age where they could become Journeyman rank, and whenever that happened, they might be sent away and never be able to see any of their friends from Storm Fires Hold again, so they should spend what time they could with them. This made sense and A'drov came out of his room and rejoined the circle of friends.

He never did get over Jessilee though, and she never seemed to know how some of the simple things that she did without ever meaning to hurt him would cut him to the quick because it would remind him of the time when she was his. He kept looking for some indication that she felt more deeply about him than just as a friend, but that spark never appeared, and he had to admit that she would never return his love for her when the day came that she told him that she was leaving to go to Rising Dawn Weyr and he told her that Jial and himself had been posted to a large cothold just outside of the Weyr. Jessilee expressed no regret at this separation and pointed out to everyone that they would still be able to see one another at gathers and other get-togethers that the Weyr would be likely to have.

That night, Jessilee asked A'drov for the favor of escorting her to her room so that she could be sure that Tarel wouldn't be there, and she told him of how Tarel had hit her. A'drov made sure that Tarel was not there and then tracked down Tarel himself. He informed Tarel that if he came near Jessilee again and ever tried to hurt him that Androv would take drastic measures, and Tarel made some comments that hurt and then backed off.

So A'drov left for his new posting, knowing that Jessilee would be leaving the next day for hers and would be safe from Tarel's wrath. He adjusted well to his new posting, and thoughts of Jessilee began not to haunt him as much. He began to notice that there were other girls on Pern that weren't averse to his presence and began dating for the first time. When the urgent need for crafters was discovered at Two Rivers Hold, A'drov and Jial left for that place, with the promise that Jessilee would send someone to pick them up for all of the Hatchings at Rising Dawn Weyr so that they could all celebrate together.

A'drov was standing on the sidelines on April 2nd, 2005 when he watched Jessilee inadvertantly Impress a green dragonet named Alialith. He was still pondering the significance of that event when Jial pointed out a brown dragonet running straight for them. Thinking that the dragonet was trying to get to the food without Impressing his candidate first, A'drov tried to shoo the brown back out onto the sands and ended up Impressing him instead.

So Androv became A'drov. He has accepted this easily, in part because it got him closer to Jessilee all the time, since they were in the same weyrling class. At first, he would deny that he was still in love with Jessilee, but he was secretly waiting for a time when she might reciprocate his feelings. As time went by though, he dropped this pose of indifference and tried to grab Jessilee's attention. Jessilee acted as if she didn't notice or realize A'drov's intentions at this point, although she did. She didn't want to hurt him badly enough to break his fixation with her because he's her friend, as well as the fact that they had to work together, and her hope was that eventually he'd find someone else and move on. He figured this out when Jessilee's Alialith had her first flight and even though A'drov was in the room, she pushed him away when he offered to help her and asked another man to do the honors instead.

Oddly enough, when you play a guy as being fixated on someone that he can't have, people come out of the woodwork to volunteer to break him of it, which is quite amusing to me. Meagan actually offered to have Ryhann hook up with A'drov at first, but I told her that wasn't possible because I have some very definite plans for exactly how he's going to get over Jessilee, and it isn't with another woman. For a while, a girl named Desien was trying to get A'drov's attention, which didn't seem to work very well. It seems A'drov likes to do the pursuing, and not to be the pursued unless he's already interested. That situation created some interesting stories though while she tried to get his attention and he tried to get someone else's attention.

Once he was over Jessilee, he already had an interest in a certain special someone, but it took forever for him to acknowledge that fact even to himself. Having been burnt once before, A'drov was an overly cautious guy when approaching love. Finally he couldn't hide his feelings from himself any longer, and he acknowledged that Weyrwoman Minerva had captured his heart. A'drov has never really been an alone type of guy, although he has been alone for a large part of his playing. He wants someone in his life to hold and cherish. Someone who will be there to cheer him on as he chases his dreams, and I made sure that A'drov has them. Even though he graduated, he was still always studying so that he could become a Weyrlingmaster, which has been his life's ambition since he Impressed Kionoth. He knows that a good Weyrlingmaster has to have some experience in other roles first though, so before he even asked to become a Weyrlingmaster, he focused on doing the best job that he can and getting that experience.

As a result of his hard work and diligence, when he transferred to Storm Fires Weyr after their Weyr was destroyed by an erupting volcano, he was promoted to a Wingleader. Ironically, right after he left Rising Dawn, a Weyrlingmaster position opened up unexpectedly, and recently another slot just opened up as well. So if he'd just stayed there, he'd probably have been able to get his dream job. But you can never guess what the future will be, and it was probably for the best. If he had been at Rising Dawn, he wouldn't have gotten experience as a Wingleader, and he wouldn't have been able to court Minerva. Besides, a Weyrlingmaster is a busy person, and it's hard to kindle a romance when you're constantly running off to go and yell at someone. ;)

Rising Dawn was destroyed by marauding pirates, and so Storm Fires took in the Rising Dawn riders. The plans never closed on reopening Rising Dawn, but as they'd lost a Queen and two others went North, it would take a while to rebuild the queen population so that they could reopen Rising Dawn and have it be a viable Weyr. When Storm Fires had six queens, it was decided to make the attempt to again split the Weyrs, with three queens staying at Storm Fires and three of them moving to Rising Dawn.

Although A'drov said that he was moving to Storm Fires to be with his family, he has successfully reconnected with them, in my opinion, and he is unlikely to lose that connection by a move across the continent when he can still see them whenever he wants. Many of his nieces and nephews now ride dragons, and they can bring the family over to Rising Dawn for visits. A'drov will follow his love and new Weyrmate, Minerva, for she is to be the new Senior Weyrwoman at Rising Dawn. This is also a great opportunity for him to fulfill the major ambition he acquired after Impressing Kionoth. A'drov is one of the Weyrlingmasters at Rising Dawn Weyrhold now.

Now that I've talked about his past and his present somewhat, it's time to mention his rather large family and how he relates to them. As I mentioned before, A'drov has three sisters, who are all much older than him. His oldest sister, Dranela, is 23 Turns older than him, his middle sister, Liera, is 18 Turns older than him, and his youngest sister Vonie is 13 Turns older than him. And all three sisters have husbands and children. Of the children, Dranela has 3, Liera has 2, and Vonie has 3. And since there is such a disparity in ages, some of A'drov's nieces and nephews are older than he is, or around the same age, and some are younger. To make things interesting, I organized a mass Search of most of these nieces an nephews. Not all of them, because some of them would be too old and not all of them would be interested, but a round six of them became candidates, and my personal NPCs or PCs, as the mood strikes me. For a complete listing of A'drov's family, go to the character ages page for Storm Fires. Those who have been Searched are Ranella, Milran, Lieyona, Jolie, Vonjol, and Olivonie. Of them, Lieyona has Impressed a queen, Vonjol a bronze, Ranella and Milran Impressed blues, and Jolie and Olivonie Impressed greens, so he did well by his family.
